"We measure by our lives" - so true, Geo. I've been feeling this so much the last couple of years. That is a wonderful geodoodle. Thank you to Norma for preserving it in a photo.
Thanks Jenny! Relayed your compliment to Norma too. The doodle is a portrait of a hood ornament on a car I donated away 20 years ago --a 1952 Willys Aerolark.
Somehow reminds me of Fields's "Wynken, Blynken and Nod"... Sailed on a river of crystal light, into a sea of dew. "Where are you going, and what do you wish?" the old moon asked the three. "We have come to fish for the herring fish that live in this beautiful sea; Nets of silver and gold have we!" said Wynken, Blynken, and Nod.
Mike, that's a teachable treasure. I seem to recall W,B&N sailed off in a wooden shoe, which sounds like a sturdy and solid vessel for cruising dreamland. Thanks!
Beautiful, yet highly melancholy words, Geo. They had me recalling so much of the past, both good and bad, and had me also examine a hoped for future. Yet, through it I also sadly admit I am STILL not confident that I KNOW who I am…. but only see a partial shadow of who I may be as in the “Allegory of the Cave”.
I hope you are continuing to feel stronger and better each day! Although I cannot know about myself, I can say you are important in the world.
Dear Prof.: When I was in highschool, Herb D., a foreign language teacher, sat beside me on a quad bench and talked about Plato's cave. First I'd heard of it. Never forgot it. He asked what I thought. Told him it seemed to say we're still under construction and it won't stop here. Thanks for reminding me!
