Juli, I hope you enjoy your feathered visitors. They are hunting feeding grounds right now (migration is hungry work). They --and ducks-- look like winged bowling pins in flight.
I always hesitate to comment on posts about ducks, not just from you, Geo, from anyone. I have a history with ducks, and it's largely culinary. I've done many posts about them, back when I was blogging. I expect some day to have a duck assassin, step out of the bushes ahead of me, and say 'This is for my brothers!', aiming a pea shooter at me.
Dear Mike, I wrote the little poem about ducks and included the painting Great Bustards because they like to pose alike for pictures in profile. And yes, I too am fond of duck meat. However, Bustards --apart from living mainly in England and Asia-- are sadly a declining species. They are among the largest of flying birds. I am content to have heard their delightfully deep baritone honks and not disturb them. Besides, they are big enough to carry firearms.
How I would love to grow feathers and take to the skies.
ReplyDeleteMe too, E..C,. Aurelius would doubtless approve.
DeleteWe've been overrun by Canadian Geese lately. Growing from feathers might just explain how they are multiplying so fast.

DeleteI missed this post! What beautiful birds. An idea that grew feathers - what a lovely thought :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Jenny. This universe is full of possibility and variables --even imaginations to help us accept the infinite-- good people too, like you.
