in progress

I don't know what to do with this post; don't know what to title it. Over the past week it's been a blank draft page labeled "in progress" but I am brave and foolish enough to proceed at random. Let's look at photos. These are Normaphotos of her kitchen counter. I'm behind the silver teapot on the right. My glasses are on the table, so you can't see me.

I don't know how this 2nd photo got in there but getting persistent pop-up declaring "update failed". It's another Normaphoto so I'll leave it because, for some reason, I can't knock it off the draft. Anybody else having this problem?

Oh, ok, I'll proceed with or without success to post a Normaphoto of our south-east porch and see what happens:
Ok, that came through pretty good. I'll try one more. For 3 or 4 years we've had a night-vision camera mounted by our back door.  Images go automatically to Norma's tablet. Last night I tried to sneak up on that device. I held my hands in the universal position of "being sneaky". The result:
It is how I look without makeup. Is anybody working on this?

  1. You almost appear as the Ghost of Christmas Present!!

I actually like the first two pictures with the silver and oranges and lights...make me happy for some reason. I think I've mastered new blogger...but it still does odd and weird things at times...

I hope this finds you and all well as we close in on seasons greetings. We're to be expecting out first snowfall tomorrow.

    1. Dear Maddie, Normaphoto compliment is much appreciated by us. I trust you are well too. Enjoy the new snow, my friend.

  2. Smiling. My life is a work in progress as I suspect yours is. Norma is considerably further down the path to perfection of course.

    1. Dear E.C., Your work in progress has furnished interest and strength in my own. Norma's status on the path to perfection is quite beyond me. I'm more like the thing photoed by the back door security camera.

  3. Norma's counter and the photos of testament are lovely and provide a good feeling. The visage in the last photo looks in need of a cup of tea and some company.
And for the record, progress is a good thing to be in. The recent behavior of our blog architecture, no so much.

    1. Dear Tom, Norma comments conveyed and appreciated. Re., my appearance in the night-photo: Nocturnal creatures with night-vision must see us this way --bloodless, colorless giants with crazy eyes. I think this how YouTubers get a lot of their "ghost&monster pictures",

  4. Geo, I like to think that my life is "in progress", but the brutal truth is that I haven't been progressing for years.
As for the new and "improved" Blogger - every time I conquer one glitch, another one appears to perplex me.

Norma's photo of the silver and oranges is beautiful - I love it!
As for the night-vision photo - - I tend to look my best when the lights are out....

BTW, I hope you have a fantastic birthday!!

    1. Dear kind Jon, I look forward to tomorrow's observance. December was pioneered by hardy compassionate folks like you and Mrs. Flett-Swiderski. I certainly agree re: night-photo. I will never sneak up on my door and let myself in again! Any spooky craziness the photo shows I blame on "New Blogger".

  5. I've said it before - your home is so warm and pleasant. Are those oranges (tangerines?) from your own trees or the grocery store? That big cat in the final photo is a little scary. I suggest you keep your doors locked at night.

    1. Dear Bruce, thanks for your compliment. Fruit in the Normaphotos are Clementines --Citrus × clementina),a tangor, hybrid between willowleaf & mandarin orange introduced to this country in 1906 by horticulturist, Omar Darling Clementine, hence the song.

  6. That's a scary photo. The other ones look like still lives (life?)

    1. Dear Margaret, As all life is happily plural I'm sure there's no strict grammar involved without dispute from me, the guy in the scary photo!

  7. Norma has an exquisite sense of artistry. As far as the security picture of you, Norma should not have let such an evil character in the house.

    1. Dear Emma, Just conveyed your comment to Norma. I agree with it and she thanks you. As for security picture, I think everybody would look evil in those. Infra-red just bleaches the light out us and even makes cute kitties look demonic.

  8. You look quite sneaky. Well done.

    1. Dear Janie, I do, don't I? This is why politicians don't consent to such photos. Night-vision causes our eyes to become malevolent beacons --in fact, I've seen some daytime photos do the same. I don't vote for them.

    1. Excellent suggestion, dear Squid, but weird photography or not, nobody could sneak around on film like Price --or seem to have more fun doing it.

  10. Bursting with all my winter favourite things - citrus, sparkles, sneaky ghouls! I have a gold china teapot that comes out for Xmas. We have to shine torches up under our chins to make scary night faces, more demonic than ghostly. The night camera can see you and you don't seem to have glasses on, that's impressive magic tech :-) PS we have had an offer accepted on 4.5 acres of south facing pasture and I'm so excited I can barely write about it xx

    1. Dear Lisa, I see we enjoy winter sparkles and sneaky ghouls. Not surprised --I think we're both disposed toward fun. Best wishes for success on selling the pasture. I hope you get lots of bovine friends like we did. Unfortunately, ours were replaced with housing tracts replete with cars cursed with adolescent voices that range from whine to bass separated by squealing skids. I went through that only so far as my larynx. Why the Mooos of cattle would evolve into that is beyond me. But I wish you well with the sale.

    2. We are buying, and will not be planting cars :-) Do you (plural, including our lovely Norma of course) have a favourite temperate zone, wet tolerant plant?

      Delete
    3. Oops, I got buyer and seller reversed --please excuse me. It's not easy on the brain to stand sideways all the time (consult planetary globe). Although we are in planting-zone 9, we've had drought for many years. Had to plant eucalyptus before we could bring ferns and periwinkle in --favorites.

    4. I do wonder about the sideways thing - you keep rotating to prevent the blood pooling I presume? Ferns and periwinkles are going on our planting list :-)

  11. Those photos of Norma's are beautifully done. I love the lights and reflections. She is an artist.

And you made me smile at your security camera photo - those pictures don't do anyone justice, do they? And thank you for a further smile about "Omar Darling Clementine" :)

    1. 0_Jenny, Norma is indeed an artist, but she won't admit it. Given another 50 years with her, I may learn why.

  14. Love the stills, friend Geo! Looks so xmassy and festive! Quite xmassy and festive here as well ... only the Mexican way ... smiles. So: Ola and Feliz Navidad from PV, Mexico. Staying here since Dec13th til the 31st. The weather is lovely. The peeps are friendly. The food is yummy. Life is good:)Renting a simple room with kitchenette. Buying and preparing my own food. Going for long walks on the beach, the pier, Zona Romantica, and of course feeding the feral cats in the park by the river:) The newest addition is a, maybe 6 week old, ginger furrball. No mama in sight. He mostly wanders among the other ferals and cries. I feed him fish every day cuz I doubt he can handle dry cat food yet. Trying hard to avoid human touch cuz he will have learn fast how to survive on his own. If I lived here permanently, I'd take him home for sure. But he seems a strong lil fighter so far, as I saw him put his lil paw over the food and a mini growl when another feral tried to steal from him:) wishing you and your loved ones a happy and healthy XMas, friend Geo. Sending love, cat. PS: I hope this message sends, as my tablet is kind of on the fritz.

    1. Dear Cat, internet connection has been sporadic here too. I remember Puerto Vallarta from the 1960s. A lovely place. I hope your holidays will be pleasant and memorable, happy and safe. Love appreciated and reciprocated.

  15. Norma's photos of your home always provide a delightful peek into your life, and the welcoming warmth of your home is an obvious reflection of the warmth and good humor of the people who dwell there. You guys... both dude and dudette... are very special. Much love and good wishes go out to both of you. Happy New Year!

  16. Dear Geo., thank you for your work in progress! I love things that continue.
The Norma photos are very cozy - and that you are able to put some script into it: Wow! (I cannot put the "copyright"-sign into it any more).

As a woman who diligently puts on make-up on her eyes and lips (I call it my "armor") I can assure you: you look interesting also without make-up!

I wish you and Norma and your family a Happy New Year - health, happiness, a content heart - and always so many marvellous and interesting ideas as you give us here in bogland - thank you for that, dear friend! Britta

    1. Dear Prof., We reciprocate your good wishes for the new year. I hope, in some utopian future, our descendants will look back at 2020 and say, "Oh really, there was no such year --how could there be?" 2021 is a good start toward that progress.
