"Wishes" --Norma

The installation over this text is furnished by Norma's Yule overbaking and has been pressed into service as illustration of her worldview.  It also illustrates a view of Thomas à Kempis, who said, "First, keep the peace within yourself, then you can bring it to others." I consider the combination of Norma-installation and
Thomas à Kempis quote to be axiomatic. Let's not be deceived by warmongers and saber-rattlers whose methods increase alienation, threaten life, environment and futurity --all that sustains us. Norma's wish, my wish and I hope yours is peace on Earth.

    1. Yes, a better world, Arleen, one cookie at a time.

  2. I try and remember that: That I need to be an exemplar of what I want to see in the world.

There's more than the usual number of ways the peace thing could go wrong in 2018, I'm afraid. I'm hopeful for somewhat better than a worst case scenario...

    1. Thos. a Kempis couldn't say it better, Harry. It starts within and radiates --into the future and a better understanding of the past.

That is a beautiful and hopeful illustration.

  5. Unfortunately there are far too many people nowadays who have no peace within themselves - despite their reluctance to admit it.

I love Norma's gingerbread "worldview". It is not only joyous, but also deliciously inspiring.

    1. Jon, I have followed your search for peace for years and am in awe of your strength and perseverance. Read your comment to Norma --as well as many of your posts and always your music. She say's you seem to be a very nice man. She's never wrong (which means I don't win arguments), but on this we agree.

  6. Can't add much to your previous commenters - bless 'em all. We all seem to be 'singing from the same hymn sheet.'

  7. Keep the peace, share the biscuits, this cannot go wrong.
Sending seasonal and indeed year long joy to all.
Maybe slyly wishing a biscuit crumb throat blockage, or a brazen throat punch, to the less deserving... but maybe not. I like my inner warrior and thus am able to keep my peace almost always. Defensive, not reactive.
Gingerbread has both pep and calm, the perfect blend.

    1. Jenny, that song by Jill Jackson-Miller and Sy Miller works toward a wonderful reality, has not lost its central thought through many revisions. It is beautiful and it is alive. Thank you.

  9. May I add my wish for world peace to yours too?
"And let it begin with me" is so poignant...oh if only every person on earth could truly feel that sentiment in their heart...just think how life would be!

And how I love Norma's gingerbread worldview...it inspires such hope...

Have a Wonderful New Year! :))

  10. Howdy superb blog! Does running a blog such as this take a massive amount work?
I have no expertise in coding but I was hoping to start my
own blog soon. Anyhow, should you have any recommendations or
techniques for new blog owners please share. I know this is
off subject but I just needed to ask. Appreciate it!

    1. Howdy, blogging is more fun than work --or should be. As to code, I only know semaphore from being in Boy Scouts. It doesn't seem to affect the computer, and I get tangled up in the flags and fall down. Wouldn't recommend it. Good luck.

If you looked at it slightly difference, and moved a few of the edibles, you would have a pattern of migration, for the last hundred thousand years....starting in Africa, etc...
Hope you and yours are well.

    1. Dear, dear, Laura, Yes! And to you as well. I'm so happy to get your comment. Now I can go out back and ring my brass bell in 6 hours and know you'll hear it in your sleep at 3 a.m. or whatever timezone Brattleboro is in. Time zones aside, these are, as you say, "our times!" I'll ring in peace, justice and the love among my brothers and my sisters all over this land.
